Content Marketing Award BadgeAugust 17, 2021—The Content Marketing Institute (CMI) announced that Comic Book School has won a prestigious Content Marketing Award for the Creator Connections: Panel 1 comics and flash fiction anthology. The anthology won for “Best Use of an eBook” (one or a series).

The award-winning anthology can be downloaded for free on the Comic Book School website. The award from CMI is the third award for the Creator Connections: Panel 1 anthology and the first award outside of the comic book industry.

“This award demonstrates that when talented individuals work together as a community they can create something truly remarkable,” said Buddy Scalera, founder of Comic Book School. “We will continue to nurture the community model to help creators improve their skills, learn about the publishing process, and break into comics as professionals.”

The CMI annual awards are the largest and longest-running international content marketing awards program in the world for content creation, distribution, and innovation, to recognize the best content marketing projects, agencies, and marketers in the industry. This year’s panel of judges reviewed nearly 1,000 entries over 87 categories.

Comic Book School is a free educational and media-publishing platform that provides experiential, community-based learning on the craft and business of making comics. ComicBookSchool.com was launched in 2006 to support Scalera’s growing library of photo reference and how-to material for comic book artists.

The anthology was the culmination of the “8-Page Challenge” from Comic Book School, in which creators were challenged to create 8-page comics stories from start-to-finish over the course of a year. They were mentored through the challenge by Scalera and industry pros from his network, as well as through a peer-review process on the Comic Book School Forums.

Previously, the anthology won two separate awards for Best Anthology and Best Short Story from the Independent Creator Awards.

Despite the recognition, the creators of the Comic Book School community are not resting on their laurels. The second annual 8-page challenge is currently underway and is scheduled to be released this fall. Interested creators can join the Comic Book School community on the forums at https://create.comicbookschool.com/forums/forum/8-page-challenge-2/.

Comic Book School thanks the CMI and congratulates all of the creators who contributed to the anthology.
