Comic Book School is currently accepting submissions for our 2021 8-page Challenge anthology.

In this collaborative learning experience, we guide aspiring and established comic book creators through the process of creating a publication ready comic story. We lead them from rough idea to finished product all while offering creative, educational and community resources along the way.

We are also including flash fiction as part of our anthology. We will be guiding aspiring writers through the process of creating flash fiction, which will also be published in this anthology.

 

Who Should Participate

We are looking for passionate creators with fun, innovative 8-page sequential and/or flash-fiction narratives designed with a Rated PG audience in mind. Stories submitted for this anthology cannot have been previously published. All characters used must be original or in the public domain.

This is ultimately a learning experience, so we encourage creators of all skill and experience levels to join us and challenge themselves to create something truly amazing.

For Comic Stories

Prompt: “Time Inn.”

All stories submitted to this anthology are to address this prompt in some way, however it is not necessary that the exact phrase appear in the story proper.

Page Length: 8 pages of sequential art with an additional cover page.

Submission Limit: Limit of two stories per creative team.

For Flash Fiction Stories

Prompt: “Time Inn.”

Flash Fiction Option #1: 

  • Writing: 300-500 words. You must address the prompt in some way, although the exact phrase “The Time Inn” need not appear in your story.
  • Art: 1 full-page illustration

Flash Fiction Option #2:

  • Writing: 750-1000 words. You must address the prompt in some way, although the exact phrase “The Time Inn” need not appear in your story.
  • Art: 2 full-page illustrations
